United Mountain Horses bring breed champions to Kentucky Expo Center

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (April 17, 2015) — Top mountain horses and former World Grand Champions will compete during the United Mountain Horse Derby City Jubilee Friday, April 24, and Saturday, April 25, at the Kentucky Exposition Center.

Riders will exhibit and ride in different categories showing Rocky Mountain Horses, Kentucky Mountain Saddle Horses, Mountain Pleasure Horses and American Gaited Horses.  Mountain horse breeds are known for their smooth easy gait and are considered versatile horses.

Competition begins 3 p.m. Friday and 10 a.m. Saturday and runs until all classes have finished showing. This event is free and open to the public, including those attending the Kentucky Derby Festival U.S. Bank Balloon Glow.

United Mountain Horse, Inc. showcases and encourages the ownership, breeding, training, trail riding and exhibition of the gaited mountain horse throughout the world. Originally bred in Appalachia, Kentucky’s native gaited Mountain Horses have become a favorite throughout the United States and beyond for their beauty, athleticism and smooth four-beat gait.

Parking at the Kentucky Exposition Center is $8 per vehicle and $20 per bus.
