Five Keeneland sales graduates entered in Belmont Stakes

LEXINGTON, Ky. (June 3, 2015) — Five of the horses scheduled to compete against Triple Crown hopeful American Pharaoh on Saturday in the 147th running of the $1 million Belmont Stakes were sold at Keeneland. The 11/2-mile race for 3-year-olds is 6:50 p.m. (EST).

Keeneland sales graduates entered in the 2015 Belmont are:

  • Frammento (Midshipman-Ginger Bay) – Bred by Mr. and Mrs. Oliver S. Tait, the colt was consigned by Blandford Stud, agent, to Keeneland’s 2012 November Breeding Stock Sale, where he was purchased by Boulder Force Equine for $50,000.
    Mossarosa owns Frammento, 11th in the Kentucky Derby for trainer Nick Zito.
  • Keen Ice (Curlin-Medomak) – Jerry Crawford, agent for owner Donegal Racing, purchased the colt for $120,000 at Keeneland’s 2013 September Yearling Sale, where he was consigned by Three Chimneys Sales, agent. The previous year, Four Star Sales, agent for breeder Glencrest Farm, consigned Keen Ice as a weanling to Keeneland’s November Breeding Stock Sale, where Chesapeake Bloodstock bought him for $48,000. Dale Romans trains the colt, seventh in the Kentucky Derby.
  • Madefromlucky (Lookin At Lucky-Home From Oz) – Trained by Todd Pletcher, the Peter Pan (G2) winner races for Cheyenne Stables and Mac Nichol. James M. Herbener Jr., agent, consigned Madefromlucky to the 2013 September Sale, where he was purchased for $70,000 by Crupi New Castle Farm II. The colt was bred by RMF Thoroughbreds.
  • Materiality (Afleet Alex-Wildwood Flower) – Alto Racing owns the Florida Derby (G1) winner, sold to Venture Six for $260,000 at the 2013 September Sale. John D. Gunther bred the colt, consigned by his Glennwood Farm, agent. Sixth in the Kentucky Derby, Materiality also is trained by Pletcher.
  • Tale of Verve (Tale of Ekati-Verve) – Second in the Preakness, the colt was consigned by Wavertree Stables, agent, to Keeneland’s 2014 April Two-Year-Olds in Training Sale and purchased by Six Friends Syndicate for $440,000. Dallas Stewart trains Tale of Verve for breeder Charles E. Fipke.
