Former UK player announces free football and cheerleading camp

Scheduled for July 18 in Lexington

LEXINGTON, Ky. (June 19, 2015) — Lexington Parks and Recreation and Lexington PAL are partnering with the 16Ways Foundation to present the Wesley Woodyard Football and Cheerleading Camp. The free camp will take place from 7:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. on July 18, at Bryan Station High School. Woodyard graduated from UK in 2008 with a bachelor’s in social work. He currently plays for the Tennessee Titans.

wes-header3“Changing Lives One Play at a Time” is a one-day football camp for youth ages 8–14. The camp will offer basic offensive and defensive skills taught by professional football players, high school and little league coaches as well as collegiate athletes. The camp also includes a Q&A session with NFL players and certified fitness trainers.

“Changing Lives One Cheer at a Time” is a one-day cheerleading camp for youth 7–14 years of age. This camp will focus on basic cheerleading skills including motions, techniques, chants and jumps. Participants will also learn a short dance and cheer, and have the chance to perform their new routine on the same day.

Both camps will focus on the importance of working together and taking a pledge against bullying.

Registration is open through June 28.
