As a life-long equine enthusiast, Beshear was a member of the World Equestrian Games Foundation Board, which in 2013 successfully hosted the first ever FEI World Games outside of Europe, an event that attracted more than half-a-million attendees from around the globe.

As a former teacher, Beshear organized “Graduate Kentucky” an initiative to address the state’s troublesome high-school dropout rates. She has raised awareness statewide about the benefits of locally grown produce and reducing our carbon footprint, and has significantly reduced energy consumption at the Kentucky Governor’s Mansion.

Thursday’s event is sold out. The next 100 Wise Women event will be on September 16 featuring Lara MacGregor, Founder of Hope Scarves.

The events were designed to allow participants to:

  • Connect with distinguished women from all career stages and backgrounds.
  • Learn by exchanging ideas, sharing concerns and discovering expertise from the women sitting next to you.
  • Grow as you strengthen your leadership capacity and get empowered.
