Georgetown, Ky. – After a $360 million investment in a new dedicated assembly line, the first domestically built Lexus is ready to roll off the line at the Toyota Motor Manufacturing Kentucky plant in Georgetown, Ky.

This is the first time the Lexus, the Toyota luxury brand automobile, has been manufactured in the United States since it was originally designed in 1989.

Toyota created an additional 750 new jobs to handle the Lexus production, and 1.5 million hours of training have taken place before the first Lexus could come off the line. The facility also produces Camrys, Avalons and Venzas.

Employees, Toyota officials and Gov. Beshear will be on hand for a special ceremony today to unveil the first Lexus made in the United States. Beshear was Lt. Gov. of Kentucky when Toyota broke ground on the Georgetown plant in 1986.
