Three artists added to Kentucky Arts Council’s Architectural Artists Directory

Directory now has 43 artists

FRANKFORT, Ky. (Oct. 23, 2015) — Three Kentucky artists have been juried into the Kentucky Arts Council’s Architectural Artists Directory.

artsWoodworkers David and Joshua Gregory, the father and son team who own Gregory Designs Inc. in Georgetown; and Louisville stone sculptor Mike McCarthy join the directory. The directory is an online marketing resource for Kentucky’s finest architectural artists who have an established history of working on special architectural or design-oriented projects and installations. The Gregories and McCarthy join 40 other architectural artists in the directory.

“We’re excited about it and hoping it will be a place for us to get out into the community on a different level with our work,” said Joshua Gregory, who joined his father’s business about 12 years ago. “We’ve traveled in the same circles as the people we’ve worked for and with, and we want to branch out. Any opportunity we have to get a newer type of work with our own designs is a good one, and this seemed like a great outlet for it.

McCarthy has been in the directory before as a wood carver through his cabinet making and furniture business. He said he is looking forward to rejoining the directory and the talent represented within it

“It’s such a great group. When you look at all the artists in the directory, all their work is phenomenal,” McCarthy said. “To be considered on par with them, I get tickled. I think it gives your work some validation that you’re doing well.
