Global Entrepreneurship Week events scheduled in Lexington

Lexington, Ky. – The Bluegrass Business Development Partnership (BBDP) is supporting Lexington’s fifth annual Global Entrepreneurship Week (GEW) from November 16-22, 2015. To celebrate GEW, the BBDP will host informational panels, workshops, networking opportunities, pitch competitions and other events geared toward our entrepreneurial community.

Bluegrass Biotech Regulatory Summit

This Summit will be focused on regulatory issues for pharma and medical device companies. Launchpad Lex Competition

Twelve companies will be selected to compete to win a professionally produced 30 second commercial video which will be distributed on Red Oak Digital Network’s 10 area Shell gas stations for a total of 3 months during 2016. Up to 3 winners will be selected based on the strength of the company’s application and five minute presentation. Winners will also be able to use this professionally filmed video on their own website and social media sites Deadline to apply to pitch is November 9th. UK Venture Studio Game Demo Day

This event will feature local game development companies discussing some of the games they are currently working on and the growing independent game development industry in the region. Attendees will also get to play some of these games, as well as those games under development by members of the RunJumpDev organization. Customer Validation and Marketing Initiative and Workshop

Four–five selected start-up clients of the Lexington Office of the Kentucky Innovation and the Bluegrass SBDC will be given an opportunity to work closely with the Transylvania University Marketing Class being taught by Dr. Adam Evans. Through this collaboration these companies and students will begin to develop tailored customer market surveys and implementation plans for the participating companies. This initiative will take place over a three week period, with the results of being revealed during a lunch hosted by the Bluegrass Business Development Partnership at the Awesome Inc. building. Attendees will also get to hear from one of the region’s leading marketing experts Taylor Trusty founder and CEO of Blackstone Media, as he discusses how better understanding your customers is key to marketing to them. The 5th Annual Standup for Your Start-Up Pitch Competition

Up to 12 teams will be selected to pitch their company to a panel of business leaders, including Marc Nager Chief Community Officer of Techstars and CEO of Startup Weekend. The top award – (The Furst Award), will be $1,000, with a second place award of $500. The companies selected to compete will also have an opportunity to exhibit their product, technology and/or service at a showcase prior to the pitches.
