Informational webinars offered to artists applying for Al Smith awards, Performing Artists Directory

FRANKFORT, Ky. (Jan. 14, 2016) — The Kentucky Arts Council is offering webinars to assist artists seeking to apply for the Al Smith Individual Artist Fellowship, Emerging Artist Award or Performing Artists Directory.

artsWebinars will help explain the online application process for those programs, and arts council staff will answer questions from potential applicants.

Artists interested in applying for the Al Smith Fellowship or an Emerging Artist Award can attend a webinar at 2 p.m. or 6 p.m. on Jan. 19. Artists interested in applying to the arts council’s Performing Artists Directory can attend a webinar at 2 p.m. on Jan. 24 or 2 p.m. or 6 p.m. on Jan. 26. All webinars are Eastern Standard Time.

Applicants interested in registering for an Al Smith Fellowship or Emerging Artist Award webinar can go to http://artscouncil.ky.gov/Opportunities/Webinar-ASF2016Register.htm and those artists interested in registering for the Performing Artists Directory webinar can go to http://artscouncil.ky.gov/Opportunities/Webinar-PAD2016Register.htm.

The Al Smith Individual Artist Fellowships are unrestricted $7,500 awards given to Kentucky artists who have achieved a high level of excellence and creativity in their work.

The arts council’s Emerging Artist Award is an unrestricted $1,000 award to early-career, professional Kentucky artists who demonstrate excellence and creativity in their work.

The Performing Artists Directory is an adjudicated roster of Kentucky performing artists used by in-state and out-of-state presenters and others as a resource for identifying artists for performance bookings and projects.
