Taking similar position in San Diego

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (Feb. 29, 2016) — Clifford “Rip” Rippetoe, president and CEO of the Kentucky State Fair Board, announced his resignation to take a similar job in San Diego, the board announced Friday evening. Rippetoe has been president of the board for three years.

Rippetoe said in the release that he wanted to be closer to his children and grandchildren. He said, “This was a difficult decision for me, but ultimately is the best for our family.”

An interim CEO will be named until the position can be filled, according to the release.

Under Rippetoe’s leadership the fair board “moved toward financial stability by implementing acceptable accounting procedures and internal audits, and expanded creative approaches to increase attendance and revenue at the three in-house produced events,” the release said.

Rippetoe begins his new job April 15.
