Renewed by National Automotive Technicians Education Foundation
FLORENCE, Ky. (Feb. 29, 2016) — Gateway Community and Technical College’s Automotive Technology program accreditation was renewed by the National Automotive Technicians Education Foundation (NATEF) and the National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence (ASE). Gateway has been a NATEF master certified school since 2005.
“This is another great example of Gateway’s commitment to aligning our programs with industry standards to provide education that leads to employment,” said Dr. Keith Bird, Gateway interim president. “Through collaboration with local and national industry leaders, Gateway provides instruction in relevant, marketable skills.”
To achieve recognition the school’s automotive training program underwent rigorous evaluation by NATEF and demonstrated nationally accepted standards of excellence in instruction, facilities and equipment.
“We are pleased to receive NATEF re-certification. Gateway’s exceptional faculty in the automotive program have worked hard to surpass industry standards,” said Sam Collier, Gateway dean of Transportation Technologies. “Thanks to all who continue to work so hard to make this program excellent.”
Gateway’s automotive program has been master-accredited in the following areas: brakes, suspension and steering, basic automotive electrical, electrical systems, engine repair, automatic transmissions, manual transmissions and drive axles, climate control, fuel and ignition systems, emission systems, and computer controls.
Upon completion of the reevaluation, NATEF recommended that Gateway’s automotive program continue to be accredited by The National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence (ASE). ASE is a national non-profit organization which tests and certifies repair technicians, in addition to accrediting automotive training programs.
