At two elementary schools, one high school
LEXINGTON, Ky. (March 21, 2016) — New principals have been selected at three Fayette County Public Schools, Superintendent Manny Caulk announced today. Caulk also announced the hiring of a director of Data Management, Planning and Program Evaluation. All new hires are effective July 1.
New hires are:
- Grant Davis, principal of Clays Mill Elementary School
- Paul Little, principal of Henry Clay High School
- Stephanie Urbanek, principal at Meadowthorpe Elementary School
- William “Billy” Buchanan, director of Data Management, Planning and Program Evaluation
Davis has more than 11 years of experience in the field of education. All of his work has been at Clays Mill Elementary School where he has served as a fifth grade teacher, instructional coach, response to intervention coordinator, administrative dean, professional growth and effectiveness coach and acting principal. Davis holds a bachelor’s degree in elementary education from the University of Kentucky, and both a master’s degree in instructional leadership and an educational specialist’s degree from the University of the Cumberlands, where he also earned certification as a principal and superintendent.
Little has more than 21 years of experience in the field of education. He taught math, reading, social studies, health and special education at Morton Middle Schools, and business education at Tates Creek High School. He was named assistant principal at Lexington Traditional Magnet School in 2004 and assistant principal at Henry Clay High School in 2005. Little holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Transylvania University, teacher’s certification from the University of Louisville, a master’s degree in education administration from the University of Kentucky and certification as a superintendent and director of pupil personnel from Eastern Kentucky University.
Urbanek has more than 12 years of experience in private schools, public schools and higher education. She was a teacher and guidance specialists at Mary Queen of the Holy Rosary and teacher and assistant principal at Saints Peter and Paul Regional Catholic School. In 2011, she became the response to intervention coach, behavior coach and teacher at Meadowthorpe Elementary School. Since 2013, she has been the professional growth and effectiveness coach at Breckinridge Elementary School. She holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees in social work from the University of Kentucky, bachelor’s in elementary education from Midway College, and a master’s in instructional leadership from Eastern Kentucky University. She holds certification as a principal and superintendent.
Currently a data scientist with the Minneapolis Public Schools, Buchanan has also served as a strategic data fellow with the Mississippi Department of Education, and a research associate with the Baker Evaluation Research Consulting Group. He holds a bachelor’s from the Berklee College of Music, a master’s in urban education policy from Brown University and both a master’s in teaching and instruction and a doctorate in K-12 educational leadership from Trident University International. Buchanan will oversee the data team and will be a member of Caulk’s cabinet.
