UofL professor to be next president of American Academy of Oral Medicine

Will take over at annual meeting next week

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (April 1, 2016) — Wendy S. Hupp, D.M.D., associate professor and interim chair of the Department of General Dentistry and Oral Medicine at the University of Louisville School of Dentistry, will take over as president of the American Academy of Oral Medicine (AAOM) during its annual meeting in Atlanta, from April 4-9.

Oral medicine specialists are qualified to treat patients for such health conditions as TMJ, burning mouth, sensory disorders and many other oral complications.

Hupp is a graduate of the University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine and practiced general dentistry in Wayne, Pa., for nearly six years. She went on to complete residency training in Oral Diagnosis, Oral Medicine, and Oral and Maxillofacial Radiology at the Naval Postgraduate Dental School in Bethesda, Md.

She is a Diplomate of the American Board of Oral Medicine, and joined the UofL School of Dentistry in 2007. Hupp lectures nationally on the treatment of medically complex patients, pharmacology, HIV/AIDS, clinical oral pathology, and women’s health. Her most recent publications and presentations include the management of oral diseases, new oral anticoagulants, interprofessional education, and women’s health.
