Executive advisor named for Department of Energy Development and Independence

Has spent entire career in oil and gas industry

kentucky_seal_resized2FRANKFORT, Ky. (April 1, 2016) — John R. “Rick” Bender will join the Department of Energy Development and Independence on Monday as executive advisor of Kentucky Energy, Environment Secretary Charles G. Snavely announced today.

Bender most recently was vice president, Land and Administration, of Blackridge Resource Partners, LLC, an oil and gas exploration/production company.  Previously, he was the director of the Kentucky Division of Oil and Gas in the Energy and Environment Cabinet. Bender has a BS degree in Geology from the University of Kentucky and has spent his entire career in the oil and gas industry. He will provide policy guidance to DEDI as natural gas plays an increasing role in energy policy in the commonwealth.
