Jefferson, Bullitt, Oldham and Washington counties enhance emergency notification system

Allows the creation of a safety profile

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (Aug. 15, 2016) — Public safety officials from Jefferson, Bullitt, Oldham and Washington counties announced today new enhancements to the region’s emergency notification system.

imgresThe new free service allows individuals and families to sign up online to receive emergency notifications and to provide key information to 9-1-1 call takers during an emergency. The system will replace the current service provided by CodeRed Alert. CodeRed Alerts, which will no longer be available as of Wednesday. The new service provider is RaveAlert/Smart911.

In addition to receiving notifications, individuals can create a safety profile to include any information they want 9-1-1 and first responders to have in the event of an emergency.

When individuals make an emergency call, their safety profile is automatically displayed to the 9-1-1 call taker, allowing them to send the right responders to the right location with the right information. Information about medical history, allergies to medication, number of residents in a home and even a picture of the family dog can all be added to a safety profile.
