Library was launched in 1999

FRANKFORT, Ky. (Sept. 12, 2016) — Ilona N. Burdette is the new director of the Kentucky Virtual Library, a program of the Council on Postsecondary Education.

Burdette served 17 years as director of library services at St. Catharine College, which closed in the spring. She also spent three years as director of the Marion County Public Library in Lebanon.

Burdette holds a master’s of library science from the University of Kentucky and a bachelor’s degree from Colby College in Maine.

Since its launch in 1999, the Kentucky Virtual Library has provided access to high-quality library and information resources to Kentucky citizens through its member libraries, who pay lower costs through the consortium. Participating members include the state’s public universities and colleges, K-12 schools and public libraries; independent colleges and universities; the Kentucky Department for Libraries and Archives; various special libraries; and a number of private K-12 schools across the state.
