Louisville Water Company names president and CEO

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (Sept. 20, 2016) — The Board of Water Works, the governing body of Louisville Water Company, today unanimously appointed Spencer Bruce as president and CEO. Bruce has served as interim president and CEO since January following the retirement of Jim Brammell.

Bruce has more than 23 years of engineering and management experience. He joined Louisville Water in 2006 and has managed the company’s distribution operations and water treatment facilities. He served as the company’s vice president and chief engineer from December 2013 to January 2016. Prior to Louisville Water, Bruce worked with Rohm Haas holding multiple management positions in maintenance, production, engineering, customer service and supply chain.

Bruce will also lead Louisville Water’s work on the One Water effort to consolidate certain back- office functions with Louisville MSD. The two organizations project combined savings of over $9 million in 2016 with One Water. The customer service and information technology groups will consolidate Jan. 1, 2017.

A native of Kentucky, Bruce grew up in Anderson County and earned a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering at the University of Kentucky in 1992. He received his professional engineering license in 2013.

Bruce is a graduate of the Leadership Louisville and Leadership Kentucky programs and is a member of the American Water Works Association and the Kentucky Society of Professional Engineers. He also currently services as president of the Louisville Water Foundation.
