An estimated 300 guests helped raise a total of $56,050 on-site at the KyCAD Gala held Thursday, Oct. 6.
Owsley Brown III matched $50,000 for a total of $106,050. The gala increased the gross amount raised by 60 percent from last year.
In addition to the money raised at the gala, Owsley announced a $1 million pledge in honor of his father, Owsley Brown II, who gave $200,000 to the Kentucky College of Art and Design at Spalding University in 2010.
The Gala benefited Louisville’s Kentucky College of Art + Design at Spalding University. The funds raised will go toward the Jean McCauley Brown Scholarship, available to students pursuing Bachelor of Fine Arts at KyCAD, where 95 percent of the school’s students receive financial support.
The gala honored co-owner of 21C, Laura Lee Brown, and her dedication to the arts.
