Kentucky Chamber President and CEO Dave Adkisson on Wednesday presented State Sen. Dennis Parrett (D-Elizabethtown) with the Chamber MVP Award. Sen. Parrett was among a select group of legislators recognized for conspicuous actions supporting Kentucky’s business community during the 2016 Kentucky General Assembly.

Parrett was the only Senate Democrat to receive a 100% voting record with the Kentucky Chamber in 2016 and this is the second MVP bat he has been awarded.

“With so many important business issues in play during a legislative session, we feel it is important to highlight the efforts of those legislators who went out of their way to help ensure a positive business climate,” said Kentucky Chamber President and CEO Dave Adkisson. “During the 2016 session, Senator Parrett crossed party lines on important votes including workers’ compensation double dipping and repealing the prevailing wage for school projects. Sen. Parrett was also a strong supporter of the business community’s top priority, public-private partnerships, as well as felony expungement and has been a great partner to the Chamber.”

In addition to monitoring the progress of bills that directly relate to the strength of the state’s business community, the Chamber tracks how each legislator votes on these bills. The Chamber’s MVP award recipients displayed more than just a business-friendly voting record, but also went out of their way, and at times across party lines, to support or oppose an issue critical to the business climate in Kentucky.
