Businessman with ties to coal industry to headline Pikeville business leadership series

Will discuss surviving transitions

PIKEVILLE, Ky. (Oct. 19, 2016) — M. Lynn Parrish will be the featured speaker for the University of Pikeville’s Coleman College of Business Speakers and Leadership Series at 9 a.m. Friday. Parrish will speak on the topic, “Becoming Leaders, Surviving Transitions and Tips for Success.”

Parrish has been involved in the coal industry in Pike, Floyd, Knott, and Letcher counties since 1977. He has also been involved in other small businesses.

He is the owner and president of Marwood Land Co., Inc. pursuing opportunities in mineral development; co-founder of Bit Source, a software development company started with displaced coal industry individuals; partner in Jigsaw Enterprises, an engineering and earth-moving company; and chairman of the board of Eastern Telephone and Technologies, Inc., a data and communications company that provides services throughout Eastern Kentucky.

An active member of his community, Parrish serves on the board of directors of Community Trust Bancorp, Inc. and the UPIKE Board of Trustees. He is a member of the First Baptist Church of Pikeville and has served as a board member and past chairman of the Kentucky Baptist Homes for Children as well as a former member of the board of directors of Kentucky Chamber of Commerce, Pikeville Medical Center, Pike County IDEA Board, Kentucky Coal Association, Kentucky Bond Pool Commission, Pikeville-Pike County Airport Board, and International Resources Partners, LLC advisory board. He attended University of Kentucky.
