BCTC ranked nation’s second best 2-year dental hygiene school

LEXINGTON, Ky. (Nov. 4, 2016) — The Bluegrass Community and Technical College (BCTC’s) Dental Hygiene program is the second best two-year program in the nation, according the Best 2016-2017 Dental Hygiene Programs by AccreditatedSchoolsOnline.org.

imgres-1BCTC received a score of 99.30, trailing only Atlanta Technical College, 99.34. Scores were based on analysis of more than a dozen unique statistics on on-campus and online dental hygiene programs across the country to reach their results. BCTC came in second place.

To be considered, colleges must meet specific base requirements: each must be accredited, public or private not-for-profit institution, and provide students career placement services or assistance after graduation. Each school’s place on the lists was determined by analysis of school-specific statistics, including student-teacher ratios and graduation rates.

AccreditatedSchoolsOnline.org said of BCTC: “Students working toward their associate in science degree in dental hygiene at Blue Grass Community and Technical College of Kentucky work under the supervision of a dentist at an on-site clinic to learn the techniques of this career. The curriculum includes general education courses in addition to those specific to dental hygiene procedures. The clinical experience in conjunction with classroom education, helps students succeed in this demanding profession. The college provides a teaching and learning center, tutoring support, as well as career and job placement services to help students achieve their academic goals.”
