Pike County receives $636K grant to renovate old high school into affordable apartments

Will total 27 apartment units

FRANKFORT, Ky. (Nov. 4, 2016) — The Department for Local Government (DLG) approved funding for a $636,000 Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) for Pike County.

Funds will be used to convert the approximately 35,000 square foot old Elkhorn City High School into 27 low to moderate income apartment units. It will allow the residents to preserve the former high school while creating safe, affordable housing for the community.

CDBG provides assistance to communities for use in revitalizing neighborhoods, expanding affordable housing and economic opportunities, providing infrastructure and/or improving community facilities and services.
