Gov. Bevin appoints executive director of Kentucky Commission on Military Affairs

FRANKFORT, Ky. (Nov. 16, 2016) — Gov. Matt Bevin today announced the appointment of Col. M. Blaine Hedges, of Louisville, as executive director of Kentucky Commission on Military Affairs, effective Dec. 1. Hedges last month was appointed commissioner of the State Council for Kentucky’s Military Interstate Children’s Compact Commission, a position he will continue to hold.

“Col. Hedges is a man of distinguished character and has, throughout his career, demonstrated exceptional leadership and management skills,” said Bevin. “As a fellow veteran, I am grateful for the selfless sacrifice he has displayed through his service to our nation. Col. Hedges’ strong personal character will be a great asset to our administration and to the citizens of our commonwealth.”

Hedges has led organizations with up to 39,000 personnel, and with budgets and real property in excess of $160 million. Most recently, Hedges served as Brigade Commander (regional vice president/director) of the 7th Brigade, United States Army Cadet Command in Fort Knox.
