BOWLING GREEN, Ky. (Dec. 14, 2016) — Mike Sanford has been named head football coach at Western Kentucky University, Director of Athletics Todd Stewart announced today. Sanford replaces Jeff Brohm, who took the top job at Purdue University.

Sanford was previously an assistant at Notre Dame. He played quarterback at Boise State from 2000-20004 and has coached at UNLV, Stanford, Yale and Boise. He also spent the 2010 season at WKU on Willie Taggart’s first coaching staff as the passing game coordinator/quarterbacks .

A father of three, Sanford is married to the former Anne-Marie Mitchell. He earned his bachelor’s degree in political science from Boise State in 2005.

WKU (10-3) won Conference USA this year and plays Tuesday against Memphis in the Boca Raton Bowl.
