Papa John’s names senior vice president, chief information and digital officer

55% of sales are through digital platforms

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (Feb. 7, 2017) — Mike Nettles has been named senior vice president, chief information and digital officer for Papa John’s International, Inc. Nettles most recently serving as vice president of Enterprise Architecture and IT Strategy at Panera Bread Company.

logoAbout 55 percent of Papa John’s domestic sales come through digital platforms and 60 percent of those are from mobile devices. Nettles will continue to enhance the brand’s digital technology with a focus on quality, utility and ease-of-use for customers. Papa John’s was recently awarded Technomic’s 2017 Chain Restaurant Consumer Choice Award for “Use of Technology Improves the Experience.”

At Panera, Nettles was responsible for driving IT architecture and processes for the transformational Panera 2.0 business model. Nettles also led the technical design, development and implementation of digital and in-café Panera assets.

Papa John’s previously tried to hire Nettles last year, but Panera sued, accusing Nettles of of violating his noncompete agreement and misappropriating trade secrets by taking a job as the chief information officer at Papa John’s.
