Lexington-Bluegrass Association of Realtors sales up 21%

LEXINGTON, Ky. (Feb. 15, 2017) — The Lexington-Bluegrass Association of Realtors (LBAR) in January totaled 776 reported sales for $139,415,451. Sales were up 21 percent from last year, when 640 sales were reported.

January2017infographicOf the 776 sales, 146 were to first time homebuyers and 100 sales were to out of state buyers. Residential sales increased 19 percent from 602 sales to 714 sales. The residential median sales price decreased one percent from $151,000 to $148,900. The residential average days on market decreased 12 percent from 77 days to 68 days.

Townhouses/condos sales increased 63 percent from 38 sales to 62 sales, townhouses/condos median sales price decreased 11 percent from $127,000 to $113,500 and the average days on market decreased 25 percent from 85 to 64.

“January sales are off to a good start for 2017, indicating that the housing market is heading into the new year in solid shape,” said LBAR President Ty Brown, “Pending inventory remains to increase for the eight month in a row. In January 2017 there were 1,027 pending listings, a 19 percent increase compared to this time last year.”
