LOUISVILLE, Ky. (Feb. 23, 2017) — W.W. Grainger, Inc., a broad line distributer of maintenance, repair and operation supplies, is considering a $272 million project to open a distribution center in Jefferson County. The company, founded in 1928 in Illinois, serves about three million customers worldwide.
The project would consist of spending $100 million on electronic processing equipment, more than $82 million on building construction, more than $55 million on other equipment, more than $29 million on land and $6 million on other start-up costs, for a total of $272,970,000.
The Kentucky Economic Development Finance Authority preliminarily approved the company for tax incentives up to $1.5 million through the Kentucky Business Investment program.
