NEW ALBANY, Ind. (March 31, 2017) – One Southern Indiana, the chamber of commerce and lead economic development organization for Clark and Floyd counties, Ind., announced on March 31 the launch of a new member program, entitled Member Insurance Benefits, or MIB, which will offer member employers and, in some cases, individuals, the opportunity to purchase insurance at discounted, large group rates.

The first phase of the program, with an effective date of May 1, 2017, will include the following ancillary insurances:

• Life Insurance
• Long/Short Term Disability
• Vision Insurance
• Dental Insurance
• Pet Insurance
• Section 125 Premium-Only-Plan

“This is a rare opportunity, and I am glad 1si is taking advantage of it,” said Pam Bennett Martin, president of Bennett and Bennett Insurance and former board chair for 1si. “Policies like these in an affordable range for small business are incredibly hard to find. Not only will this give 1si members an opportunity to save on benefits for their employees but will also give my company another product to offer my customers. It is a win-win scenario.”

Phase one programs will be available to all 1si member employers with two or more employees through Assured Partners NL, the coordinating agency, and other approved 1si member insurance agents. A list of these agents can be found on 1si.org/mib.

“AssuredPartners NL has long been in the business of providing solutions to our clients. By collaborating with 1si and several leading insurance companies, such as Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield, OneAmerica, Delta Dental, and PetFirst, Assured Partners NL has provided a needed employee benefit product offering to 1si‘s members and insurance agent partners. Honoring 1si’s request that all member insurance agents have the opportunity to sell these ‘community first’ products, Assured Partners NL demonstrates their commitment to put the client’s needs first,” said Todd Stocksdale, chief operating officer of AssuredPartners NL. “We are proud to partner with One Southern Indiana in bringing a large employer or association priced product and service solution to each individual member. At AssuredPartners NL, we strive for excellence in what we do – putting the client first is our business.”

The policies being offered can be partially or fully company-paid benefits for employees or employee purchased benefits. Phase two and three, tentatively scheduled for next year, could include health insurance, employee assistance programs, clinic and prescription discounts, and home, auto and property policies.

“1si is always striving to find impactful ways to help our members in measurable ways. The Member Insurance Benefits program does exactly that. Small companies can afford benefits, that until now were too costly or simply not available to them. As 1si members, these employers now have a cost-efficient way to add benefits to help retain their current workforce, as well as attract new employees,” said 1si President and CEO Wendy Dant Chesser. “The attraction to the MIB program is not only the quality of the insurance providers and plans but also the inclusivity of the program. Any insurance agent can sell the program and any company with two or more employees can enroll, as long as they are 1si members.”
