BeerFest on tap Wednesday at Derby Festival

LOUISVILLE (May 2, 2017) – Lift your glass! The Kentucky Derby Festival BeerFest presented by American Founders Bank returns on Wednesday, May 3.

There will be more than just beer tasting at this year’s event, thanks to a partnership with The Boston Beer Company. Attendees can participate in the Sam Adam’s ‘Guess That Sam’ Competition; Angry Orchard Angry Pour Competition; Twisted Tea – Game Area, including Giant Jenga, Corn Hole, and Giant Connect 4; have a Coney Island “Adult” Root Beer Float; win a Fit Bit in Truly’s ‘Race for a FitBit’ competition; plus Traveler Beer will be handing out free mustaches.

BeerFest features beer tasting sessions from regional and craft beers. There will also be plenty to snack on including the Derby Burger, Kern’s Kitchen Derby Pie and a Pretzel Necklace Station.

Beer will be flowing from 6-10 p.m. on the Overlook at Kroger’s Fest-a-Ville on the Waterfront, with entertainment provided by the Handcar Prophets. A complete list of participating breweries is available online at KDF.org.

General admission tickets are $45 in advance; $55 at the gate. Ticket availability is limited. Tickets include all activities, plus beer tastings, a commemorative sampling mug and a Kentucky Derby Festival BeerFest pin. This is a 21 and over only event. Participants must present ID upon entry. The Derby Festival is an independent community organization supported by 4,000 volunteers, 400 businesses and civic groups, Pegasus Pin sponsorships and event participation.
