Tom Gatewood appointed Franklin County PVA

FRANKFORT, Ky. (June 1, 2017) – Gov. Matt Bevin today appointed Ralph Thomas “Tom” Gatewood as Franklin County PVA.

Gatewood is a lifelong resident of Franklin County. He has been appraising property for more than 30 years and has been involved in the real estate industry in construction, remodeling, rentals, appraising and sales.

“I am not only very familiar with the property in Franklin County and its valuation but also the records kept by the PVA office and their importance for accuracy in fairly collecting revenue for the Commonwealth,” said Gatewood. “I look forward to the challenge of making the sure the PVA office functions to the best of its ability.”

Gatewood has owned and operated Gatewood Appraisal Company in Frankfort since 2003. Previously, he has served in numerous state agencies, including the Kentucky Department of Charitable Gaming, the Kentucky Department of Housing, Building and Construction, Kentucky Alcoholic Beverage Control, the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet, the Kentucky Labor Cabinet, and the Kentucky Department of Revenue.

He earned both a B.A. in political science and an M.P.A. (with an emphasis in management, personnel and finance) from Kentucky State University. Gatewood and his wife Dorothy reside in Frankfort.

Gatewood shall serve until the position is filled in accordance with the results of the November 2018 midterm election, pursuant to the provisions of Section 152 of the Kentucky Constitution.
