Steamboat docking season to begin in mid-June in Paducah

Port of Paducah-American Queen3

PADUCAH (June 1, 2017) — Paducah will welcome five riverboats to the Port of Paducah in 2017 with approximately 30 total dockings scheduled between June 15 and mid-December.

The American Queen, the largest steamboat ever built, and the Queen of the Mississippi, a 150-passenger ship owned by American Cruise Lines, both return to Paducah. Three new vessels offering paddlewheel cruises on America’s inland waterways will also drop anchor in Paducah during 2017, including American Duchess, the first all-suite paddlewheeler on U.S. rivers; the America, owned by American Cruise Lines; and the French American Line’s Louisiane.

“Riverboat cruising seems to be healthy in terms of demand, especially considering the expansion of fleet,” said Fowler Black, Paducah CVB Sales Director. “River cities like Paducah have a good opportunity for visitorship since riverboats focus more on shore excursions rather than onboard entertainment.”
