Three member group
FRANKFORT, Ky. (July 5, 2017) — Gov. Matt Bevin on Monday appointed Talina Rose Mathews, of Frankfort, to the Kentucky Public Service Commission.
Her appointment follows expiration of the term served by former Commissioner Daniel Logsdon, who resigned last month to pursue new opportunities. Mathews will take office immediately and serve a four-year term, subject to confirmation by the State Senate.
Mathews holds a doctoral degree in economics from the University of Kentucky and has worked in the energy, utility and environmental sector for 20 years, most recently serving as executive director of the Public Service Commission.
The Kentucky Public Service Commission (PSC) is a three member administrative body with quasi-legislative and judicial duties that regulates over 1,500 utilities in the commonwealth. The Commission, created in 1934 by the General Assembly, operates with roughly 85 employees and performs its regulatory functions primarily through the issuance of written orders, following a strict adjudicative and rulemaking process.
