Gov. Bevin appoints magistrate for the Fourth District of Martin County

FRANKFORT, Ky. (Jan. 4, 2018) – Gov. Matt Bevin has appointed Brian J. (B.J.) Slone, of Lovely, as magistrate for the Fourth District of Martin County. Slone’s appointment fills the vacancy left by the passing of longtime Magistrate John Harmon.

Slone currently serves as the pharmacist-in-charge (P.I.C.) at the Martin County Community Health Center in Inez. After receiving his bachelor’s degree in biology from Alice Lloyd College, he earned his Pharm. D. degree from the University of Charleston (West Virginia) School of Pharmacy.

“I appreciate Gov. Bevin’s leadership as well as his confidence in me,” said Slone. “This is a critical time for Martin County, and I look forward to the opportunity to serve my home district and county as a Magistrate.”

Slone is active in his community, a member of Calvary Temple Church and a volunteer coach for the Martin County Middle School baseball team.

This appointment will take effect immediately. Slone will serve until the position is filled in accordance with the results of the November 2018 midterm election, pursuant to the provisions of Section 152 of the Kentucky Constitution.
