PIKEVILLE, Ky. (Jan. 25, 2018) – Through its annual election process, the membership of the Small Business Institute (SBI) voted David Snow, D.M., to serve as vice president of programs-elect. He will serve a one-year term in this position and then a one-year term as vice president of programs. Snow is the director of the Kentucky Innovation Network Pikeville office and associate professor of business at the University of Pikeville (UPIKE).

The mission of the SBI is to be the premier provider of professional development for those engaged in experiential student team consulting and related entrepreneurship education, research and activities. SBI is the link between business, education and community. The organization has been in operation for more than 40 years and is experiencing a growth in membership.

“I am honored to serve on the Board of the SBI. This organization does tremendous work in entrepreneurship education and assisting small businesses with student consulting. It is my pleasure to contribute to the continuation of their mission,” said Snow.

During his tenure at UPIKE, Snow has worked to increase entrepreneurship opportunities for the campus and community. He has expanded entrepreneurship education and activities by creating an entrepreneurship minor, UPIKE’s own business plan competition, a student consulting program, a high school entrepreneurship program and an entrepreneurship track for the MBA program to start in fall 2018. Snow established the Kentucky Innovation Network Pikeville office which has helped clients create 125 jobs in the past year.

“Dr. Snow is an innovative thinker and his experience with student team consulting and entrepreneurial education will bring numerous benefits to the SBI,” said Howard Roberts, Ed.D., dean of the Coleman College of Business at UPIKE. “We, his UPIKE colleagues, are poised to support him in this role and congratulate him on this opportunity.”

Snow will be formally installed into the board position during the annual conference in February.
