FRANKFORT, Ky. (Feb. 22, 2018) – Vita-Stat LLC, a leading innovator of medication and care management software for assisting living communities and skilled nursing facilities, will expand its operation in Louisville with a more than $2.17 million investment that will create 22 full-time jobs, Gov. Matt Bevin and Louisville Mayor Greg Fischer announced today.
“Vita-Stat has been a strong corporate partner in Kentucky over the past decade, and we are grateful for its increasing presence within the medical software sector in Louisville,” Gov. Bevin said. “We are delighted to see this wonderful company continuing to grow here in the commonwealth, and wish Vita-Stat many years of continued success in Jefferson County.”
Vita-Stat, located in Louisville since 2007, previously operated under the name Creative Strategies US. The company will expand from its current location on Bardstown Road to accommodate additional computer resources and increased office space. With backing from new investors and a growing demand within the senior living community, the company will roughly double the size of its Louisville operation to 20,000 s.f. Among new positions created through the expansion will be sales representatives, implementation project managers and trainers, customer support representatives and software development personnel.
“We have evolved our business from its technology consulting roots to become an important senior care software provider over the last several years. This has resulted in accelerated growth in all areas of our business,” said Vita-Stat CEO Jerry Merritt. “As others have noted, there is something special happening in Louisville in technology, health and senior care and we plan to be a vital part of that.”
Vita-Stat President and founder John Carroll established the company in Louisville more than a decade ago. The company currently employs 52 people in Louisville.
The company developed ACCUflo, an electronic medication administration record (eMAR) software system, which is widely adopted by some of the most well-respected assisted living and skilled nursing facilities in the country. Its mission is to optimize and error proof the shared processes between caregivers and pharmacists to ensure clinical excellence for residents living in senior care communities. The company is serving the needs of several hundred senior care communities across the U.S.
Mayor Fischer highlighted the importance of Vita-Stat’s work.

Sen. Morgan McGarvey, of Louisville, said the local workforce will help ensure Vita-Stat’s continued success.
“This investment and commitment in our community will provide much needed jobs and a boost to our local economy,” Sen. McGarvey said. “We stand ready to meet the additional labor demands of Vita-Stat with a highly skilled and dedicated workforce.”
Rep. Kevin Bratcher, of Louisville, said this type of economic growth highlights the effectiveness of the community’s workforce.
“The investment by Vita-Stat to grow more jobs is a reflection on the dedicated workers and pro-investment commitment in Louisville,” Rep. Bratcher said. “Congratulations to everybody involved in securing this new growth.”
Rep. Al Gentry, of Louisville, noted the company’s growth as a Kentucky-based business.
“What Vita-Stat has done over the past decade is a textbook example of a small business success story, so I commend those who put in the hard work to make the company what it is today,” Rep. Gentry said. “I also want to thank them for contributing to our community’s thriving healthcare industry. I’m sure there will be more good news to come down the road.”
To encourage the investment and job growth in the community, the Kentucky Economic Development Finance Authority (KEDFA) in February preliminarily approved the company for tax incentives up to $300,000 through the Kentucky Business Investment program. The performance-based incentive allows a company to keep a portion of its investment over the agreement term through corporate income tax credits and wage assessments by meeting job and investment targets.
In addition, Vita-Stat can receive resources from the Kentucky Skills Network. Through the Kentucky Skills Network, companies can receive no-cost recruitment and job placement services, reduced-cost customized training and job training incentives. In fiscal 2017, the Kentucky Skills Network provided training for more than 120,000 Kentuckians and 5,700 companies from a variety of industry sectors.
