Bluegrass Supply Chain Services announces proposed plan for new facility at Bridgeport Business Center in Jeffersonville

JEFFERSONVILLE, Ind. (Feb. 28, 2018) — Representatives from Bluegrass Supply Chain Services appeared before the Jeffersonville Redevelopment Commission Wednesday and outlined their proposed plan for the construction of a new facility. Company leaders are considering a 200,000-s.f. building, within the Bridgeport Business Center at 1220 Bridgeport Drive.

Bluegrass Supply Chain Services is a third-party logistics provider based in Bowling Green, Ky. The proposed construction project will create a new warehouse space with offices that will serve clients in the areas of value-added warehousing, sequencing, kitting, and transportation management. The company will retain 14 employees currently employed in Jeffersonville and plans to hire another 70 before the end of 2020.

“This expansion will help ensure Bluegrass Supply Chain Services continues to grow in Southern Indiana,” said John Higgins, president of Bluegrass Supply Chain Services. “Our company has received great support from the residents and City of Jeffersonville, One Southern Indiana, the IEDC and Koetter Construction, who is handling our project, and we appreciate their confidence in our success.”

The company is requesting a tax abatement for its qualifying capital investment. The company plans to invest $9.7 million in the project through 2021. If approved, the tax abatement will allow the company to phase-in its property taxes associated with this project.

“The City of Jeffersonville is excited to be considered for Bluegrass Supply Chain Services’ new project,” said Jeffersonville Mayor Mike Moore. “For the past three years, they have been recognized by INC Magazine on the annual INC 5000 listing of the fastest-growing privately held companies in America. For Jeffersonville to be the community where this growth continues is both exciting and indicative of the great foundation we have for success.”

Wendy Dant Chesser, president and CEO of 1si, said, “One Southern Indiana is pleased that Bluegrass Supply Chain Services, LLC, has expressed a desire to expand in Jeffersonville with the possible construction of a new facility and employment of 70 new personnel. We continue to see interest in Southern Indiana as a favored location to grow current business, as well as launch new ventures. With the many logistical amenities offered in Southern Indiana, Bluegrass Supply Chain Services has great potential here and we congratulate them on their past success, current growth and look forward to helping them attain their future goals.”

Barring the unforeseen, the company would like to begin hiring January 2, for the estimated construction completion date of February 1, 2019. Those interested in applying for positions should contact Lyndsey Grider at 270-282-2211.
