Southwest Airlines begins nonstop service between Louisville and Atlanta

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (August 13, 2012) — Louisville International Airport (SDF) today announced the launch of Southwest Airlines’ new low-fare nonstop jet service between Louisville and Atlanta’s Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport (ATL). Southwest now offers three daily nonstop flights to Atlanta using 137-seat Boeing 737 aircraft.

“This new service not only helps Louisvillians connect for pleasure travel—it makes it easier for business and commerce from Atlanta and the world to connect to Louisville, which helps create new jobs and economic growth,” said Mayor Greg Fischer.

Atlanta is an important market for both business and leisure travel, said Myles Hanna, Southwest Airlines Station Leader, “and the new service opens up even more of the Southwest Airlines network to passengers in Louisville.”
