State capitol Christmas tree lighting Saturday

FRANKFORT, Ky. — Come light up the night and usher in the holiday season on the front steps of the State Capitol with a timeless Kentucky Christmas tradition: the Governor’s Christmas Tree Lighting!

This year, the Commonwealth is partnering with Passport Radio to bring back a beloved tradition, beginning the evening’s festivities with the Annual Frankfort Christmas Parade.

The parade will step-off at 6 pm EST, and will travel from High Street to Capital Ave., ending at the Capitol Circle. The tree lighting will immediately follow, and onlookers can watch the Capitol’s Christmas season officially kick off while enjoying complimentary hot chocolate and cookies.

Afterwards, everyone is invited to walk to the Governor’s Mansion to see the beautiful decorations and meet Santa Claus.
