Derby parties lined up at Kentucky International Convention Center

LOUISVILLE (April 25, 2013) –Parties start early and end late at the Kentucky International Convention Center this Derby season. With both pre-Derby and post-Derby parties, there’s a celebration for everyone.

The festivities start Thursday, May 2, with the annual 100 Black Men of Louisville Derby Scholarship Gala , in the Cascade Ballroom, 7 p.m.-2 a.m. The featured musical guest is Keith Sweat, an R&B and soul singer who first hit the charts in 1987 and has been a perennial presence in the music industry ever since. The annual Goodtimers Derby Eve Bash is Friday, May 3 in Riverside Lobby, Pre-function 2CD and Bluegrass Hall, 10 p.m. – 4 a.m. A sophisticated pre-Derby party, this event features four different DJs and three different party atmospheres. General admission is $40 per person, $65 for limited VIP, $340 for tables of six and $600 VIP couch reservation for six. The Darrell Griffith Foundation All Star Celebrity Derby Affair is Saturday, May 4, 10:30 p.m.-4 a.m. in the Cascade Ballroom. This annual event supports the foundation’s community outreach. Tickets are $75 for general admission, $135 for VIP admission, $800 for a VIP table of four, $1,000 for a VIP table of 10 and $1,200 for a VIP Couch session with four seats.
