Centre Meadows Apartments to have 11 buildings and 206 units
FRANKFORT, Ky. (June 16, 2014) – In an effort to increase safety during a major construction project on Centre Parkway in Lexington, Codell Construction Co. has entered into a Construction Partnership Program with the Kentucky Labor Cabinet. The formal site-based agreement allows the Labor Cabinet to conduct numerous jobsite audits during the construction of Centre Meadows Apartments, which will include 11 buildings and 206 units.
“This agreement means that our safety teams will be working collaboratively with Codell Construction on this project,” said Kentucky Labor Cabinet Secretary Larry Roberts. “The goal is to protect the safety of the workers before we would ever need to get into an enforcement mode. What makes this even better is that Codell Construction is a family-owned Kentucky company, and we are very pleased to work with them.”
Based in Winchester, Codell Construction was incorporated in 1917 and has grown into a construction management company that provides design/build services for projects all over the world. The Centre Meadows Apartments project is expected to be completed by October 2015 at an estimated cost of $18.9 million.

As part of the Construction Partnership Program, workplace safety experts with the Kentucky Labor Cabinet’s Office of Occupational Safety and Health will make frequent visits to the site. Visits begin with an on-site conference of employees and subcontractors followed by a walk-through inspection to identify hazards.
All findings are discussed in a closing conference, followed within days by a detailed presentation of any hazards. In addition, abatement dates are set for deficiencies that have not already been corrected, and written reports will be prepared for Codell Construction.
Currently, the Kentucky Labor Cabinet is involved with 14 other ongoing Construction Partnership Programs across the commonwealth. This number fluctuates frequently as projects are added or completed.
The current partnership with Codell Construction follows the successful completion of the Franklin County Courthouse construction in December 2013, which began in November 2011, and was the Labor Cabinet’s first partnership with Codell.
