Barbara Edelman receives Fayette County Bar’s highest honor

Attorney Barbara Edelman recently was honored by the Fayette County Bar Association.

LEXINGTON, Ky. (May 10, 2012) – Barbara Edelman, a partner in Dinsmore’s Lexington office, has been awarded the 2012 Henry T. Duncan Award by the Fayette County Bar Association (FCBA). This award is the association’s highest honor and recognizes a member of the bar whose integrity, leadership and professional conduct exemplifies the highest ethical and professional standards that benefit the community.

“The Bar Association could not have chosen a more deserving recipient of the Henry Duncan Award than Barbara. She has devoted her career to service to her clients, to the community, and to her colleagues. We are proud of all that Barbara has achieved, and lucky to be able to call her our partner,” said Chauncey Curtz, managing partner of Dinsmore’s Lexington office.

Edelman has devoted her time to various FCBA and Kentucky Bar Association committees for more than three decades and previously served as the president of the Fayette County Women’s Bar Association. Edelman also dedicates her time to numerous organizations, including LexArts, and serving as president of the University of Kentucky Law School Alumni Association, as well as serving as a member of its Visiting Committee.

Edelman recently was recognized by her peers as the “Lawyer of the Year” in Lexington for appellate law by The Best Lawyers in America. She has also been named a “Leading Woman in Central Kentucky” by Business Lexington, a “Top Women in Business” by The Lane Report and is recognized for her work in commercial litigation in Chambers USA and Kentucky Super Lawyers. She also was recently named as one of Benchmark Litigation’s Top 250 Women in Litigation in the country.

Edelman earned her J.D. and B.B.A. from the University of Kentucky.
