HARLAN, Ky. (June 7, 2017) — The Kentucky Coal Academy will host free refresher mining trainings on June 19 and 20 at Southeast Kentucky Community and Technical College’s (SKCTC) Harlan campus.
Training sessions are taught by a Kentucky certified instructor, qualified by the Mine Safety and Health Administration. The Kentucky Coal Academy does not provide other services such as drug testing and card issuance. In 2017, the Kentucky Coal Academy has provided 1,252 certifications through its program at SKCTC.
Training sessions:
- 8- or 16-hour Underground Refresher:Â June 19 and 20, 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. (attend one day for an 8-hour certification or both days for a 16-hour); must have Kentucky Underground Miners card
- 8-hour Surface Refresher: June 20, 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.; must have Kentucky Surface Miners card
