Barbasol Junior Championship starts next week, top U19 Golfers

Golfers from around the world play June 28th – July 1st, 2021 at Keene Run

NICHOLASVILLE, Ky. —The Barbasol Championship, Keene Trace, and Golf House Kentucky will host the inaugural Barbasol Junior Championship June 28-July 1 at Keene Run Golf Course in Nicholasville.

The Barbasol Junior Championship was created to provide the highest level of competition for top junior players and will be streamed live on Junior Golf Live. The 54-hole stroke play event will be contested over three days at the Keene Run Course at Keene Trace Golf Club in Nicholasville, Kentucky and is open to amateur boys under the age of 19 who have not entered their first year of college.

The Barbasol Junior Champion will receive a coveted exemption to the 2021 PGA TOUR Barbasol Championship, which will be played July 15-18. The Barbasol Junior Championship is the only junior golf tournament in the country to offer an exemption to a PGA TOUR event.

Format: All players will play 18-holes of stroke play on Tuesday, June 29th, Wednesday, June 30th and Thursday, July 1st. There will not be a cut. Starting times will begin at 8:00 am all three days. There will be an awards ceremony and trophy presentation following the conclusion of play on Wednesday at approximately 5:30 pm.

In addition to the golf tournament, a “free” Youth Golf Clinic will be co-produced by First Tee – Greater Lexington, the Gilbert-Bunnell Foundation, Do Something Extraordinary Golf and Golf House Kentucky to

Golf House Kentucky, a non-profit organization comprised of the Kentucky Golf Association, Kentucky PGA Section and Kentucky Golf Foundation, also played an integral role in making the event a reality.

The Barbasol Junior Championship field will include over 120 players, currently residing in 25 different states and five (5) countries including, in addition to the United States, Canada, China, Japan, Mexico, and the Philippines.
