Shippingport Brewing Co. to open in Louisville’s Portland neighborhood

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Shippingport Brewing Co. and Sally Forth Taproom will open Thursday, June 24, on West Main Street in the Portland neighborhood of Louisville. Sally Forth Taproom will feature beer brewed by Portland resident and Louisville-native Amelia Pillow, formerly the head brewer of the Against the Grain brewpub at Slugger Field.

“I wanted to open a brewery in my neighborhood,” said Pillow, founder and brewmaster of Shippingport Brewing Co. “I moved to Portland in 2018 and fell in love with the neighborhood. By opening up a business here, I’m hoping to grow interest in this area, have people swing by for a beer and engage with the community.”

Shippingport Brewing Co. was originally slated to open in the spring of 2020 but plans shifted with the onslaught of the COVID-19 pandemic that shut down the country. The kitchen will be managed by Lamar Cornett, a chef with years of experience operating in the Louisville restaurant scene.
