Bourbon Recipe: New Riff Kentucky Straight Bourbon

By The Bourbon Flight

We are a new riff on an old tradition, that tradition or theme being Kentucky Bourbon. Founded in 2014 by Ken Lewis, a visionary Kentucky liquor retailer, and entrepreneur, New Riff is led by a team of corporate refugees ranging from craft beer to politics and more. New Riff crafts a range of whiskeys—Bourbon, Rye, and eventually Malted Rye and a host of specialty recipes—as well as Kentucky Wild Gin. Our mission is simple: to someday be counted among the world’s great small distilleries. Becoming one of the great small distilleries of the world is a long-term play, with no exact ring to win, or title to be declared.

HOW BOUT DEM APPLES

Ingredients:

  • 1.5 oz. Martinelli’s apple cider
  • 2 oz. New Riff Kentucky Straight Bourbon
  • .5 oz. cinnamon-sugar simple syrup*
  • .25 oz. lemon juice
  • .25 oz. Bragg’s apple cider vinegar
  • .25 oz. bourbon maple syrup
  • .25 oz. REAL brand apple syrup

Instructions: Make the cinnamon-sugar simple syrup first by heating equal parts cinnamon-sugar and boiling water. Stir to combine and let cool. Make the cocktail by shaking all ingredients together and straining into a highball glass filled with ice and half-rimmed with cinnamon sugar. Garnish with a dehydrated apple disc.
