Farmers Capital Merges Three Banks to Form United Bank

Frankfort-based Farmers Capital Bank Corp. has announced plans to merge three of its subsidiary bank charters to form one bank.

The merger plan includes combining Farmers Bank & Trust Company, Georgetown; Citizens Bank of Jessamine County, Nicholasville; and United Bank & Trust Co., Versailles. The merged entity will operate under the United Bank name and have assets of $809 million and deposits of $545 million. Following completion of the merger, which is expected to take place in the fourth quarter of 2008, United Bank will operate 13 branch locations and 36 ATMs in Fayette, Scott, Woodford and Jessamine counties.

Farmers Capital Bank Corp. is a financial holding company with banks in Frankfort (Farmers Bank & Capital Trust Co.); Lexington and Georgetown  (Farmers Bank and Trust Company); Versailles and Midway (United Bank & Trust Co.); Nicholasville and Wilmore (Citizens Bank of Jessamine County), Lawrenceburg, Harrodsburg and Danville (LNB – formerly Lawrenceburg National Bank);, Northern Kentucky (Citizens Bank of Northern Kentucky); and Elizabethtown, Radcliff, Shepherdsville and Mt. Washington (First Citizens Bank).
