BIA of Greater Louisville launches new trade school

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — As workforce shortages continue and housing demand remains strong, the BIA of Greater Louisville is announcing the launch of the Building Institute of Greater Louisville. This will be a trades training program focused immediately on the Heating Ventilation and Air Conditioning trade (HVAC). Plans are being developed to include other trades beginning as soon as 2023.

The training program is designed to educate students in the field of HVAC by providing them with classroom and hands-on learning, to get them placed in the field where they will earn while they learn and to get them prepared to take the KY State Journeyman’s license examination. This program provides students with an accelerated path to licensure.

The Building Institute of Greater Louisville’s program is a no-nonsense approach to practical instruction on the trade and one that has been designed to be industry and employer centric. The students will concentrate on learning aspects of the trade that are needed on the job. Classes will be taught by experienced tradesmen/tradeswomen who are coming from the field to the classroom to teach daily. The Building Institute is actively recruiting students for their first cohort that will start the first week of October 2022.

The BIA of Greater Louisville has a long and rich history of being a leader in the construction industry in our community. The launch of the Building Institute is the next chapter of our dedication to professional development within our industry and we are excited to offer this career opportunity to the Louisville area.

The Building Industry Association of Greater Louisville is a Membership Organization, formerly known as the Home Builders Association of Louisville.
