KCDC to select interim leadership, revamp its vision

FRANKFORT, Ky. – At its meeting on January 16, the Kentucky Capital Development Corp. (KCDC) Board of Directors formed a committee to interview candidates to serve as interim executive director.

The person hired for the interim position will serve as a bridge between former President and CEO Terri Bradshaw, who led KCDC for the past eight years, and a new full‐time leader. The board expects interviews will be conducted and a decision reached on the interim position in the next few weeks.

Over the coming months, the KCDC board of directors will comprehensively review and update the agency’s policies and practices to reflect a new vision for economic development in Kentucky’s capital city.

During this time of transition, the KCDC office will be open for business.

“As we reimagine and optimize our service to the community, we’ll undertake a comprehensive review of our strategic plan and make any updates to reflect changes in our area since it was finalized in 2018,” said board member Shawn Cecil. “The revamping of the KCDC will culminate with the recruitment and selection of a new, permanent leader to take us into the years ahead.”

The board wants to thank Ms. Bradshaw for her service and wishes her well in the future. Acting Chair Kimberly Gester added that the board is embracing the change in leadership as an opportunity for a fresh vision for the organization and economic development in Frankfort and Franklin County.

“Soon, the KCDC board will select an interim leader to ensure the services provided to the business and development community remains reliable,” Gester said.

While there are changes in store, plans to maintain its core mission remain: growing the economy in Frankfort and Franklin County through the attraction of new business and industry and the retention of existing businesses.

“We intend to enhance and focus our efforts to develop jobs and opportunities in Frankfort and Franklin County that will enrich and enhance our community,” Cecil said, adding that KCDC remains committed to following through on grant commitments, assisting local businesses, and attracting new opportunities.
