The Dean of the House will return to Capitol Hill next week
Dean of the House Harold Rogers of Kentucky’s 5th District

WASHINGTON, DC – U.S. Rep. Harold “Hal” Rogers (KY-05), Dean of the House, will resume more duties on Capitol Hill next week as he continues recovering from a car accident last month.

“Chairman Rogers is recovering very well with continued physical therapy. As a result of his progress, he plans a graduated resumption of his duties on Capitol Hill next week,” said Dr. Brian P. Monahan, Attending Physician for the U.S. Congress.

Rogers was first elected to Congress in fall 1980 and has had large impact on economic development and quality of life in his region during his 23 terms in office. In 2023 The Lane Report featured content highlighting his accomplishments for the state.

“In Eastern Kentucky, we’re known for our resilience and mountain grit. When times get tough, we get tougher – and it’s that Appalachian inspiration from back home that is driving me through this recovery to get back to Capitol Hill for our people,” said Congressman Rogers, a senior member of the House Appropriations Committee. “We have a lot of work to do this month as we address the nation’s border crisis and finalize federal funding bills before the March deadlines. Thanks to the help of an excellent medical team and prayers from across the country, I am moving full steam ahead.”

Congressman Rogers’ service for the people of Kentucky’s Fifth Congressional District will not be inhibited as he continues the recovery process.
