Event is Saturday at Louisville Slugger Field
LEXINGTON, Ky. (Sept. 26, 2014) — The 16th Annual Light The Night Walk, an annual event to pay tribute and give hope to people battling blood cancers, is scheduled for Saturday at Louisville Slugger Field. Family festivities begin at 5 p.m. The opening ceremony will be at 7:10 p.m., followed by the walk at 7:35 p.m. Fireworks are scheduled for 8:26 p.m.
The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society is expecting between 7,500 to 10,000 people to attend the event.
This year’s honored hero is Elliott Kozenski, a 6-year-old Pre cell B Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia survivor Elliott.
As part of the walk participants carry illuminated lanterns-white for survivors, red for supporters, and gold in memory of loved ones lost.
The event will feature music, food, survivor and memorial tributes and a Kids Zone.
Another walk is scheduled for Oct. 18 in Lexington.
