Gov. Beshear makes appointments to boards and commissions

Appointments announced on Friday evening

FRANKFORT, Ky. (Feb. 9, 2015) – Gov. Steve Beshear has made the following appointments to Kentucky boards and commissions:

kentucky_seal_resizedAppointed to the Kentucky Film Commission, to serve for a term expiring Sept. 30, 2018.

  • Quinn V. McMurtry, of Fort Wright, is director of sales and marketing for MAC Productions. The appointment replaces Kristen Erwin, whose term has expired.  McMurtry shall serve for a term expiring September 30, 2018.

Reappointed to the Kentucky Film Commission, to serve for terms expiring Sept. 30, 2018:

  • Nell F. Cox, of Frankfort, is a film and video director, producer and writer.
  • Daniel L. Diamond, of Beverly Hills, California, works in feature film production, finance and distribution for QED Holdings LLC.

Appointed to the Apprenticeship and Training Council to serve for a term expiring Dec. 31, 2018.

  • Lisa Marie Heideman, of Louisville, is vice president of human resources for UPS and represents employer organizations. She replaces Kristi Payne, whose term has expired.

Reappointed to the Apprenticeship and Training Council to serve for terms expiring Dec. 31, 2018:

  • Camilla Moss, of Maysville, works in human resources for Stober Drives Inc. She represents employer organizations.
  • Anthony S. Herbert, of Louisville, is a sheet metal worker and business manager with Sheet Metal Workers Local 110. He represents employee organizations.
  • John E. Morrison, of Louisville, is business representative for IBE Local 369. He represents employee organizations.

Appointed to the Center for Pollution Prevention Board of Directors for a term expiring July 15, 2017.

  • Sadieville Mayor Claude J. Christensen, representing local government, replaces Kevin L. Murphy, whose term has expired.

Appointed as a member of the Kentucky Applied Behavior Analysis Licensing Board.

  • Richard A. Allday, of Lexington, is a professor at the University of Kentucky. He represents behavior analysts. The appointment replaces Mary Michelle Deskins-LeMaster, who resigned. Allday shall serve for the remainder of the unexpired term ending Oct. 1, 2016.

Appointed as a member of the Kentucky African-American Heritage Commission.

  • L. Rodney Bennett, of Frankfort, is a resource manager with the Kentucky Department of Education. He represents the public at large. He replaces Clestine V. Lanier. Bennett shall serve for the remainder of the unexpired term ending Feb. 1, 2016.

Reppointed to the Kentucky African-American Heritage Commission.

  • Carolyn M. Sundy, of Lynch, is an administrator at Southeast Kentucky Community and Technical College. She represents the public at large. She shall serve for a term expiring Feb. 1, 2019.
  • Kilen K. Gray, of Shelbyville, is pastor at New Mt. Zion Baptist Church. Gray represents the public at large. He shall serve for a term expiring Feb. 1, 2019.
  • Samuel R. Coleman, of Middlesboro, is director of the Small Business Development Center at Southeast Kentucky Community and Technical College. He represents institutions of higher education. Coleman shall serve for a term expiring Feb. 1, 2019.
  • Alicestyne Turley, of Richmond, is an assistant professor and director of the Carter G. Woodson Center for Interracial Education at Berea College. Turley represents the public at large and shall serve for a term expiring Feb. 1, 2019.
  • Angela R. Nance, of Lebanon, is a workforce investment area fiscal officer for Lincoln Trail Area Development District. She represents the arts community. Nance shall serve for a term expiring Feb. 1, 2018.

Appointed to the State Board of Licensure for Professional Engineers and Land Surveyors:

  • Charles R. Scroggin, of Lexington, is a consulting engineer with HDR Engineering Inc. He represents the Kentucky Society of Professional Engineers. Scroggin shall serve for a term expiring Jan. 1, 2019. The appointment replaces Benjamin T. Quinn, whose term has expired.
  • James Donald Pedigo II, of Glasgow, is a professional surveyor with American Engineers Inc. He represents the Kentucky Society of Professional Engineers. Pedigo shall serve for a term expiring Jan. 1, 2019. The appointment replaces David A. Atwell, whose term has expired.
  • Linda C. Bridwell, of Lexington, is an engineer with Kentucky American Water Co. She  represents the Kentucky Society of Professional Engineers.  She replaces Michael Ritchie, who has resigned. Bridwell shall serve for the remainder of the unexpired term ending Jan. 1, 2016.

Appointed to the Kentucky Health Care Improvement Authority Board:

  • Regan Hunt, of Louisville, is executive director for Kentucky Voices for Health. She represents citizens at large. Hunt replaces Mariann G. Dunn, whose term has expired. Hunt shall serve for a term expiring Sept. 6, 2016.
  • Cara L. Stewart, of Covington, is an attorney and health law fellow with the Kentucky Equal Justice Center. She represents citizens at large. Stewart replaces Wilma J. Peeples, whose term has expired. Stewart shall serve for a term expiring Sept. 6, 2017.

Reappointed tothe Health Insurance Advisory Council, to serve for terms expiring June 15, 2016:

  • Donald S. Mucci, of Louisville, is an insurance agent with Garrett-Stotz Co. and represents insurance agents.
  • Jannice O. Aaron, of Smithfield, is a physician. She represents health care providers.
  • Bonnie L. Bolinger, of Williamstown, is a retired nurse and counselor with Legal Aid of the Bluegrass. She represents purchasers of health benefit plans.
  • Carl Felix, of Frankfort, is chief operating officer with Bluegrass Family Health. He represents insurers currently offering health benefit plans in the state.
  • David Kurt Adams, of Versailles, is a chiropractor. He represents purchasers of health benefit plans.
  • Robert H. Zax, of Louisville, is a physician with The Skin Group PLLC. He represents health care providers.
  • Bradford H. Blain, of Lexington, is an insurance agent with Al Torstrick Insurance Agency Inc. He represents insurance agents.
  • Sarah H. Dilger, of Louisville, is an attorney with Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield. She represents insurers currently offering health benefit plans in the state.

Appointed to the Kentucky Commission on Women.

  • Princeton Mayor Gale Cherry replaces Paula Cunningham, who resigned. Cherry shall serve for the remainder of the unexpired term ending Jan. 17, 2018.

Reappointed to the Kentucky Commission on Women to serve for terms expiring Jan. 17, 2019:

  • Bettye B. Brookfield, of Springfield, is a professor of art at St. Catharine College.
  • Mary Lynne Capilouto, of Lexington, is a retired dental school dean.
  • Kathy K. Plomin, of Lexington, is self-employed.
  • Elizabeth B. Hatchett, of Louisville, is an attorney in the Office of the Attorney General.
  • Kimberly A. Greenwell, of Louisville, is a consultant with KAG Consulting.
  • Nancy E. Eskridge, of Owensboro, is a self-employed manufacturer’s representative and contract designer.

Appointed to serve as members to the Kentucky Early Childhood Advisory Council:

  • Jennifer S. Miller, of Frankfort, is director of the Head Start Collaboration Office. She shall serve for a term expiring June 30, 2018.
  • Dreama Gentry, of Paint Lick, is executive director of Partners for Education at Berea College. She represents citizens at large. The appointment replaces Julie Ashmun, who resigned. Gentry shall serve for the remainder of the unexpired term ending June 30, 2015.

Appointed  Audrey Tayse Haynes to serve as chair of the Kentucky Interagency Council on Homelessness for a term expiring June 1, 2017.

Appointed as a member of the Kentucky Spinal Cord and Head Injury Research Board to serve for a term expiring Jan. 31, 2019.

  • John Thomas Slevin, of Lexington, is an academic neurologist at the University of Kentucky.

Reppointed to the Tourism Development Finance Authority to serve for terms expiring Jan. 31, 2019:

  • Keith Jason Williams, of Bowling Green, is a purchasing agent for Bowling Green Municipal Utilities. Gov. Beshear designated Williams as chair of the authority.
  • Joseph Andrew Clabes, of Lexington, is founder and president of Alliand Equine and managing partner, Block Clabes LLC.
  • William M. Alverson, of Paris, is president of Traditional Bank.

Reappointed to the Kentucky Board of Landscape Architects to serve for a term expiring Feb. 1, 2018.

  • Thomas J. Nieman, of Lexington, is a professor of landscape architecture at the University of Kentucky.

Appointed to the State Board of Elections to serve for a term expiring Sept. 15, 2018:

  • Donald W. Blevins, of Lexington, is a retired Fayette County clerk. He replaces Ronald L. Morgan, whose term has expired.
  • Albert B. Chandler III, of Versailles, is an attorney and executive director of the Kentucky Humanities Council. He replaces Kimberly Denise May, whose term has expired.

Reappointed Stephen S. Huffman, of Lexington, as a member of the board to serve for a term expiring Sept. 15, 2018.

Reappointed to the State Board of Elections the Kentucky Board of Hairdressers and Cosmetologists, to serve for terms expiring Feb. 1, 2017.

  • Regina K. Swanner, of East Bernstadt, is a cosmetology instructor at Somerset Community College. She represents cosmetology teachers.
  • Bea Collins, of Wittensville, is a hairdresser at Bea’s Beauty Salon. She represents cosmetology salon owners.
  • Rebecca H. Taylor, of Winchester, is a cosmetology school owner. She represents cosmetology school owners.

Appointed to the State Board of Elections a member of the Kentucky Workers’ Compensation Nominating Commission to serve for a term expiring Dec. 4, 2018.

  • McKinnley Morgan, of London, is an attorney at Morgan, Collins & Yeast. The appointment replaces Roger. D. Riggs, whose term has expired.

Reappointed to the State Board of Elections as a member of the commission, to serve for a term expiring Dec. 4, 2018.

  • Sherri Brown Keller, of Nicholasville, is an attorney at Fogle Keller Purdy.
